Congratulations Boston Marathoners
A special congratulations to Kirk Mueller on a great run in the Boston Marathon. In spite of the heat, Kirk ran a 3:12:45. Kirk is a regular on the Lakeshore Trail, but probably won’t be for the next couple weeks! From a quick search on Birmingham, AL on the BAA.org website, congratulations also to John Casterline, Jonathan Jeff, Ann Cade, John Cobbs, John I Kennedy, Jr., Stephanie Duncan, Nate Ross and Brad Clay. Reflections on the 2012 Mercedes Marathon
Sitting in the Emergency Room at Selby Baptist Medical Center last August, I wondered when I was going to be able to walk again. Just about an hour earlier, I had been running around on the tennis court in the sweltering summer heat and now I was laid up with a ruptured Achilles tendon and waiting for the Lortab to finally kick in. Even as the drug induced fog started to erase the pain in my leg along with my few remaining coherent thoughts, the idea of running in the Mercedes Marathon started to take the form of some masochistic goal. And now, 6 months to the weekend, I managed to cross the finish line at … Read entire article »

Mercedes Marathon Courses
The Mercedes Marathon course is a double loop course running through the downtown and surrounding areas of Birmingham. I ran my first marathon on this course … Read entire article »
